By signing up for the Steady waitlist, creating an account, or using any part of the Steady service (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Steady ("we," "us," or "our"). If you're using Steady on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
Steady is a personal finance tool designed to help people with variable or irregular income understand how much they can safely spend each month. The Service includes:
Steady is currently in a pre-launch phase. Features described on our website represent our intended product and roadmap. Some features may not yet be available and are subject to change. We'll be transparent about what's live versus what's coming.
Founding member note: If you've paid for a founding membership tier, you're securing early access and locked-in pricing. Your access will be granted when the corresponding features become available. We'll notify you by email before charging anything.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Steady. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your password. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at support@joinsteadyapp.com.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. We may suspend accounts where we believe the information provided is false or misleading.
Personal accounts are for individual use. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent pricing or access restrictions is not permitted.
Founding members who purchase a paid tier lock in their rate for as long as they remain active subscribers. "Active" means your subscription has not been cancelled or lapsed. If you cancel and later resubscribe, current pricing at that time applies.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually depending on the plan you select. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. We use third-party payment processors (such as Stripe) and do not store your full payment card information on our servers.
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You'll retain access to paid features through that date. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
Founding member preorders are refundable within 30 days of payment if the product has not yet launched. After product launch, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we'll make it right.
We won't change your locked-in founding member rate. For other subscribers, we'll give at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not sublicense, sell, resell, transfer, assign, or otherwise exploit the Service or any content within it for any commercial purpose without our express written permission.
When using Steady, you agree not to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
Steady and all related content, features, and functionality, including the name, logo, software, algorithms, text, and design, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You don't acquire any ownership rights by using the Service.
You own the financial data you enter into Steady. We don't claim ownership of your income figures, account information, or any personal data you provide. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle it.
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use that feedback to improve the Service. We're not obligated to act on feedback, but we do read and genuinely consider it.
Not financial advice. Steady is a personal finance tool, not a financial advisor. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The numbers Steady generates are estimates based on the data you provide and the methodology we've built. They are tools to help you think, not instructions to follow blindly. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions that matter.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We're a small team building in the open. We'll work hard to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee perfection.
We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any financial estimates, projections, or recommendations provided by the Service. Your actual financial outcomes depend on factors outside our control.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Steady and its founder, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from:
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the total amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.
You can stop using the Service at any time and cancel your account by contacting us at support@joinsteadyapp.com.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms. In cases of serious violations, we may act without notice. For less severe issues, we'll generally reach out first.
Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately. Sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.
Before filing any formal claim, please contact us at support@joinsteadyapp.com and give us a chance to resolve the issue. Most problems can be sorted out quickly with a direct conversation.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising from these Terms will be brought exclusively in the courts located in Texas.
For disputes that can't be resolved informally, you and Steady agree to resolve them through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if they qualify. This means you waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit. To opt out of arbitration, you must notify us in writing within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms at support@joinsteadyapp.com.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
If you disagree with a change, you can stop using the Service and cancel your account before the new Terms take effect.
Just email us. We're a small team and we respond to real emails from real people.
We do not directly access your bank accounts or pull real-time financial data without your explicit action. If and when bank sync is offered, you will authorize that connection separately and can revoke it at any time.
We use the information we collect to:
We will never use your financial data to make lending decisions, sell you products, or share it with advertisers.
Your data is stored on secure servers in the United States. We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls that limit who within our team can access user data, and regular review of our security practices.
No system is perfect. While we take security seriously, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. If we ever experience a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
We keep your data for as long as you have an active account or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Service and understand how people use it. Here's what that means in practice:
These keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and make the Service work. You can't turn these off without also losing Service functionality.
These help us understand which features are used, how people navigate the Service, and where things might be confusing. We use this to improve the product. You can opt out of analytics tracking by contacting us or using browser privacy settings.
We do not use cookies to track you across the internet, build advertising profiles, or sell data to ad networks.
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect how the Service works.
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
To exercise any of these rights, email support@joinsteadyapp.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Steady is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with their data, please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
If you're a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@joinsteadyapp.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
In the past 12 months, we have not sold or shared personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases:
Data transfers to the United States are made pursuant to appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission where required.
If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves and as laws change. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.
Data requests, deletion requests, and privacy concerns go here. We respond to every one.
Steady is a personal finance software tool. Nothing on the Steady platform, website, or in any communication from us constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, accounting advice, or legal advice.
The Safe Monthly Spend number, runway calculations, income allocation recommendations, and any other outputs from the Service are generated by an algorithm based on information you provide. They are estimates and tools for reflection, not professional recommendations.
We are not a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), broker-dealer, bank, credit union, insurance company, or any other type of licensed financial institution. We are not regulated by FINRA, the SEC, the FDIC, or any comparable financial regulatory body.
Steady's recommendations are based on a methodology we've developed to help people with variable income make more consistent spending decisions. This methodology involves:
These calculations depend entirely on the accuracy of the data you enter. If your income figures are incomplete, incorrect, or not representative of your actual situation, the outputs will not be accurate. Garbage in, garbage out.
The tax estimates Steady generates are rough approximations to help you set aside funds. They are not a substitute for working with a qualified tax professional, particularly if you have complex income sources, deductions, dependents, or other individual circumstances.
Using Steady does not guarantee any particular financial outcome. Your income, expenses, tax liability, and overall financial health depend on countless factors that the Service cannot account for or predict.
Past income is not a guarantee of future income. Steady uses historical data to project forward-looking guidance, but life changes. If your income situation changes significantly, you should update your data in the app and revisit your numbers. Do not rely on an outdated Safe Monthly Spend number as if it still reflects your current situation.
Steady will not prevent you from overspending, missing tax payments, or encountering financial hardship. The tool is designed to give you better information. What you do with that information is always your responsibility.
Any tax-related information or estimates provided by Steady are for informational purposes only. They should not be relied upon as tax advice and should not replace consultation with a qualified tax professional or CPA.
Tax laws are complex, vary by jurisdiction, and change frequently. Factors including your filing status, state and local taxes, deductions, retirement contributions, and other variables can significantly affect your actual tax liability in ways that Steady does not and cannot account for in its estimates.
We strongly encourage all users to work with a qualified tax professional for tax planning and preparation.
Any references to investing within Steady, including features that indicate when it may be "safe to invest" surplus income, are general informational guidance based on the stability of your buffer and runway. They are not personalized investment recommendations.
Steady does not manage investments, recommend specific securities, or assess your individual risk tolerance, time horizon, or investment goals. Any decision to invest should be made in consultation with a licensed investment professional.
If Steady integrates with third-party financial institutions or data aggregators (such as bank sync features), those connections are governed by the terms and privacy policies of those third parties. Steady is not responsible for the accuracy of data provided by third-party sources or for any actions taken by those institutions.
Steady is a starting point, not a finish line. We encourage you to work with qualified professionals for:
If you're in a difficult financial situation, please reach out to a qualified advisor. Steady can help you understand your numbers, but human guidance matters in hard moments.
We're happy to explain our methodology in plain terms. Just ask.
